OOPS !

IMG_0305

While adjusting and hammering our mooring pins in this morning the metal loop just dropped off on this one. Beware and never have your mooring rope through the loop taking the strain of the boat as we see done so often on our travels. The loop is just a guide to keep the rope in place on the mooring pin.

  1. A very good warning to other boaters here, I hope they take heed of it.
We have encountered several boats across the cut, then reinstated them.
Sometimes pins are just pulled out of the soft ground by boats 'in a hurry!'
This does damage the banks and narrows the tow-paths.

    1. In soft ground we will often use 2 pins at angles to secure us. We also have some extra long pins which can be very useful.
