Leaving Llangollen

IMG_4683After a brilliant couple of days in Llangollen its time to leave and at 07.40 we untie ropes and head out of the basin and then back down the Llangollen canal.

There was only one thing that put a dampner on our trip to Llangollen and that was a boater having his mooring ropes set on fire in the basin. We do not know if he had upset someone or was just unlucky, but it is the first time we have ever heard of this happening and it is a bit disturbing. He was told by the boater moored next to him to inform the Police as this has to be Arson and could have ended up as a very serious incident. Lets just hope he did so that the culprits can be caught…

IMG_4686 After leaving Llangollen we soon arrive at Trevor…That's handy . With boats coming over the Pontcysylite aqueduct we have a twenty minute wait until the crossing is clear.

IMG_4687A boat coming slowly over the aqueduct towards us.

IMG_4704Not everybody has a head for heights. Carolyn prefers to be below decks where she feels a lot safer.

IMG_4717This has to be one of the only World Heritage sites with a working Sewage Treatment works below it. Not that I know what one of them is.

IMG_4737Passing through Froncysylite and we pass this boat !!! What a strange name for a Boat !!

IMG_4759After a good days cruising we picked up this mooring by this beautiful old Oak tree.We will have another early start in the morning as we want to get on and head back South to complete our Summer cruise for this year.  !!!!!

                                                                                            Happy Days

  1. Hi Carolyn and Gary (and Hamish),
At last we have an internet signal strong enough to catch up with the blogs! It was good to meet you and catch up later too
We are tucked up in Swanley marina now and Dave's gone off to fetch the car from Anderton.
    All the best,
    Debby and Dave

  2. I understand how Carolyn feels about heights, Gary. However I won't have the luxury of staying down below as I will have to steer when we cross the aqueduct next time. I had my terror rush yesterday at the Nottingham Castle walls ...
    Cheers, Marilyn

    1. Hi Marilyn . I try and stand on the edge of the boat next to the side with no railings. I do it even though Im not happy doing it ,but it is a big massive buzz. You must now be looking forward to Summer again back down under ??
